about me

Welcome to Plum and Radish! I started this blog in 2009 when I found myself at a career crossroads. I really didn't even know what a blog was, but with more time on my hands, I became interested in what people on the web were writing about my favorite topic: food. It soon became clear to me that I had a lot to say and wanted to share some of the knowledge I had amassed working in the housewares industry for over 15 years.

I think of myself as a modern day Renaissance woman- I love to cook, garden, sew and I am pretty handy with a drill ( I grew up in a hardware store). I once taught myself to knit and chose a sweater as my first project! Definitely a daunting task but I was determined to make it happen. I even made a futon from scratch! Everyone thought I was nuts!

I love to can and preserve foods too.  Jams, pickles, tomatoes....you will find me at the Farmer's Market every Saturday picking out my favorite seasonal veggies. It's so important to me that I eat well and know where my food comes from. My wish is for all of us to know the basics on how to feed and nurture ourselves with good food and healthy relationships with our family and friends. Add a  spiritual connection to our planet, and that makes for a whole individual.

I hope you will stay awhile and enjoy my posts and please comment! I would love to hear from you.

Cheers,

Joanne
